ABOUT
Ellen Gustavsson is a Swedish filmmaker and visual storyteller with a background in performance arts, drawn to emotional and visually driven narratives. Her work often moves between documentary and cinematic portraiture, exploring intimacy, identity, escapism and human connection through atmosphere, rhythm and feeling. Her debut short documentary BICH’EBI [boys], co-directed with Nathalié Williamsdotter, had its world premiere at the 28th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival in 2026. The film has also been presented in several international industry and market contexts, including Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market, Cannes Short Film Corner | Rendez-vous Industry and IDFA Docs for Sale. Ellen graduated from Hyper Island’s Digital Media Creative program in 2022 and is currently developing new film projects alongside her work in film & TV production and visual development. In fall 2026, she will attend the HDK-Valand Film Programme in Gothenburg to further develop her filmmaking practice.
